Various Mediums in the Atrium

Since Place des Arts opened in 1972, it has been a part of our vision to provide exhibition opportunities for emerging artists and Place des Arts’ students and teachers. In the early days, when the original Ryan House was renovated to accommodate arts programming, wood roofing shingles were installed on some of the corridor walls to create space for hanging artwork. 50 years later, with three exhibition spaces and an updated hanging system, we are proud to continue to support and showcase the work of local emerging artists.

As part of our year-long celebration to mark our 50th Anniversary, this exhibition reflects our 50th season mission to celebrate Place des Arts voices through creative connection, storytelling and joy. The work on display was created over the past 50 years by current and former Place des Arts students, teachers, volunteers, artists, artisans and staff and reflects each artists’ artistic journey and connection to Place des Arts.
