Ceramics in the Atrium

Fraser Valley Potters Guild (FVPG) is a non-profit association with membership comprised of professionals, teachers, collectors, students and hobbyists. FVPG presents an annual show with a collection of current work by members selected by a juror. This year, the juror is Vancouver ceramic artist and educator Jen Woodin, and the theme is “Of the Earth”. The work on display reflects a wide range of artistic interpretations of the concept and demonstrates many methods and techniques of working with clay as a creative medium.

FVPG’s annual juried exhibitions support the Guild’s mandate to promote excellence in ceramics and facilitate connection with the public and other ceramic artists. Guild members are encouraged to expand their conceptual and technical skills and to develop and refine contemporary work for submission. Exhibiting creates an opportunity for members to grow their practice in a collegial and competitive environment.

During exhibitions, the FVPG enjoys participating in public events such as artist talks, demonstrations and family-friendly “Play with Clay” activities. In addition to providing an opportunity for members to develop community engagement skills, these activities promote arts education in clay, which is an important objective of FVPG.

Join FVPG for a “Play with Clay” session during Place des Arts’ Family Day at PdA on Sunday, October 16 from 1:00-3:00 PM.
