Dear Edwina Jr. is a heartwarming musical about the joys of growing up, from the creators of Junie B. Jones, The Musical. Written in a “show-within-a-show” format, Dear Edwina Jr. is the perfect “girl power” musical for a new generation.
Dear Edwina Jr. follows the adventures of plucky advice-giver-extraordinaire Edwina Spoonapple, as she directs the neighborhood kids in a series of buoyant production numbers for the latest edition of her weekly “Advice-a-Palooza.” Edwina and her friends share wisdom on everything from trying new foods to making new friends, through clever, catchy and poignant songs.
The ensemble of the Coquitlam Youth Theatre has been vigorously working on Dear Edwina Jr. the Musical since January. They started the year as two distinct and separate cohorts working on touring productions, and then in January, we merged into one colossal group. It has been an honor and a privilege working with these 31 dedicated, keen and hilarious young people. Every day they bring some new joy to the process and inspire me within my own.
I must applaud all the students for their openness to explore their craft, the characters and persevere through all the challenged they have faced. You don’t truly know the magic of theatre until you see over two dozen youths singing their hearts outs.
Dear Edwina Jr. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com
