Registration into the Coquitlam Youth Theatre program is by-audition only. Upon acceptance, students will be provided a personalized rehearsal schedule. Casting details will be released after rehearsals begin. It is the students’ responsibility to arrange transportation to and from rehearsals, classes and performance venues. Students will not be permitted to miss more than two rehearsals per production. Exceptions for medical or compassionate reasons may be considered upon receipt of a written explanation submitted to the Sr. Fine & Performing Arts Programmer within 24 hours of absenteeism. Failure to meet this attendance requirement may result in expulsion from the Coquitlam Youth Theatre program.
Fees and other details are included in the audition package.
Rehearsals will run September 12, 2020 to June 5, 2021 for all Coquitlam Youth Theatre Company members. Exact rehearsal schedules for each production are included in the audition package.
CYT Faculty for 2020/2021
Place des Arts instructor Seamus Fera will lead rehearsals and direct both shows. Additional guest instructors and master artists will be working with the CYT actors throughout the season.
A $400 production fee is payable in full at the time of enrolment and is non-refundable. The production fee is used to offset the production costs (production designer, costumes, sets, props, venue rental, royalties and scripts, transportation for props, tech fees, designers) of the theatre productions.
Audition Submission deadline: 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2020
To audition (no cost to audition) rehearse and memorize one of the monologues provided in the Auditions Package. Additionally, rehearse and memorize 16 bars (30 seconds) of a musical theatre song of your choice to perform in your audition video. Prior to your audition, it is highly recommended you do background research on the characters who speak/sing in your chosen pieces.
