Come visit our Positively Petite Exhibition on until December 15. Find out More
It often seems to me that there is an overvaluation of “big” and “large” in our society, which often also equates to “loud”. My pieces are meant to bring attention to the smaller, quieter things in life that are often less noticed or even overlooked due to their petite size. I take a multimedia approach to my process, creating a visual collage of styles, patterns and media, my favourite mediums being charcoal, pen and watercolour. My artistic process often begins with a quiet early morning walk, when it’s just me and the birds awake, taking notice of the quiet and small wonders around me.
I’m an artist living and working in New Westminster and I am the owner of Creative Capricorn Artworks. I was born in Victoria, BC, and I lived all across Canada while growing up, providing me with a great appreciation for all of Canada’s natural spaces. My inspiration comes from what I see around me every day: trees, flowers and birds, as well as people, community and kindness. I’m a representational artist, generally working in realism as I find it perfectly suited to convey my interest in the details of texture, light and shadow. I specialize in the mediums of graphite, pen and ink, charcoal and watercolour.
