Artist Statement

I love photographing small details, abstract patterns and everyday objects and settings. I strive to see things differently and portray subjects in unique ways. I also try to bring humour and positivity to my images as I reflect on the often depressing features of our contemporary world.

Over the last five years, I’ve been creating lens-based images as well as photographs. The starting point for each piece is one or more photographs, then these images are transformed and combined, sometimes with text. The result may be an abstract piece, a painterly image or a collage.

Biography

I am an avid photographer with ten years of experience in digital image capture and post-processing. My interests include urban, still life, abstract and conceptual photography. Throughout this time, I’ve been a member of PhotoClub Vancouver and I thank my fellow members for helping me to expand my photographic horizons, improve my technical skills and refine my photographic vision and voice. Learning to use Photoshop better has also greatly aided my self-expression.

I’ve been a PhotoClub director since 2015 and in that capacity have organized seven juried public exhibitions and taught introductory photography workshops at Vancouver’s Roundhouse Community Centre.
